We help our youth become better citizens for tomorrow!
The Foundation awards scholarships to high school seniors in Prince William County, Virginia and surrounding areas. Each year our Foundation awards several scholarships to local youth in consideration of their academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, volunteer activities, and participation in community service projects. The George M. Hampton Scholarship is named in honor of Dr. George M. Hampton, for his commitment to providing college scholarships to youth in our community. OurFoundation also awards Dunlap Scholarships annually which are supported by our affiliate PLL.
An annual High School Essay Contest is funded by the foundation. This contest is held in the month of October with awards being made during the month of November each year.
We provide grants to a number of community based charitable organization including the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and the Acts Program, and we provide grants to support the George M. Hampton Middle School and Youth Mentoring Programs to include the Omega U Program. The foundation also supports other charities by awarding grants to many community support programs to include the Relay for Life Cancer initiative, the annual Walk for Diabetes, Health Fairs, Blood Drives and St. Jude Hospital. These are often done in affilation with Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Inc.
The Foundation makes monetary awards to the winners of an annual talent hunt program focused on identifying and providing exposure for students in the performing arts. The awards are made to students in grades 9 – 12 who attend a public high school in Prince William County, Virginia and surrounding areas. Students may compete in categories such as: 1) drama, 2) instrumental solo, 3) piano solo, 4) vocal solo and 5) dance.
